Luis Diaz-Albertini has been named Managing Director of The Henegar Center for the Arts. He is a native of Havana, Cuba whose family immigrated to the U. S. in 1959 and settled in New York City. In 1969 the family moved to Miami, which he considers home. He has two daughters and two grandchildren who live in South Miami, Florida.
Mr. Diaz-Albertini is a 38 year executive of the radio industry who has worked primarily in Florida; however he has also built successful stations in Chicago, San Antonio, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico, both in English and Spanish formats.
He has been employed by Edens Broadcasting, CBS Radio, Clear Channel Communications and Spanish Broadcasting Systems, a public company, where he was the third ranking executive overseeing Sales and Marketing for 18 stations and managing a budget grossing $130,000,000 in revenues.
He is very confident that his professional experience and knowledge in the media industry and in selling advertising and sponsorships, along with his cultural awareness, will serve him well in his new role as Managing Director. He will develop an aggressive multi-faceted marketing program for artistic offerings at the Henegar, now in its 25th year of productions.
Luis strongly believes that the Henegar will become the epi-center for the arts in Brevard with highly recognized achievement in musical productions under the capable direction of Hank Rion. Also working with President Dr. Cliff Bragdon and The Henegar Board of Directors, he envisions a continuous showcase for notable productions such as the current show, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, (only performed three times in the United State and never before in Florida). Other initiatives will be in jazz, classical music and opera performances, along with “Tech Talks” and the summer theater for youth. This level of diverse programming will augment The Henegar’s offerings and contribute to the reputation of downtown Melbourne as a growing center of cultural excellence.
